Hi, my name is Fotis. I’m Greek, living in Finland, working as a software developer.
Previously, I was living in Edinburgh, where I got a degree in Computer Science and an MSc in Informatics, specialising in Natural Language processing. I hope to use insights from NLP to make better language learning tools for people.
I am also interested in the ways different programming languages enable us to reason about programs. In my day-to-day work, these interests translate into structuring APIs and design systems, focusing on constraints and predictability. That might seem like a stretch, but I see a pattern in how we construct languages for all domains of life, and value establishing a common vocabulary in teams. I like languages and systems in general, I suppose.
In another life, I am a photographer. A way to articulate my thoughts when words fail me, perhaps.
Oh, I also like learning languages, but I think you’ve guessed that by now.
That is indeed my surname. After some polling, I’m told this might help: Papa-doh-george-oh-poulos
